DEVELOPMENT The future construction of a year-round sport and tourist complex Perelik at the altitude up to 2191m is just 10 km from Padaloto site. With its 6500 decares, it is going to be the largest South European ski resort. It is designed to connect Perelik peak with one of the most beautiful Bulgarian ski resorts - Pamporovo, as well as with Chepelare ski tracks “Mechi chal” 1 and 2, which are among the finest alpine tracks in Europe. The projects suggest constructing of 22 ski tracks on a total length of 54 km and capacity for 8000 skiers per hour, handled by 3 cabin lifts, 4 travel rope-lines and 5 ski lifts. Transport to the nearest town of Smolyan will be available and an 80 km international highway part is connecting the complex with the town of Ksanti in Greece. A nearby lift station will lead from Padaloto to the new complex Perelik.
SKIING There is a lift station 5 km away from Padaloto, which can bring you up to the foot of Snezhanka peak - 1926 m. Eight ski tracks on a total length of about 24 km await you there. They provide the best conditions for advanced skiers as well as for beginners. You can make the best of the wonderful entertainments and relaxation conditions offered by one of the common ski resorts in Bulgaria - Pamporovo. The average temperature is about 8°C, the blanket of snow stays over 150 days, and the tempting sun shines for about 270 days a year. This natural diversity is completed with ski runs and biathlon tracks with specially designed shooting galleries and several ski schools. There are installations for artificial snow as well as lights for night skiing. The ski tracks of Pamporovo have all degrees of difficulty. Most of the tracks start from the very peak. There are three cross-country runs in Pamporovo. In the 9 ski-wardrobes near the tracks, you can find over 2000 ski outfits and equipment, snow-boards and sleighs.
SUMMER TOURISM The Rhodopes are a real discovery for those who find delight in summer recreational tourism in the mountains. If you are among those, Padaloto resort could be your starting point towards a variety of summer adventures - tracking, mountain biking, horse riding, speleologist activities in the local caves and a stroll along the great number of eco tracks and routes. From here you can reach different destinations - the Izgrev place and the place called Momchil yunak, Perelik peak and the village of Progled, the town of Smolyan and Murgavets peak, the unique Orpheus rocks and the picturesque curves of Trigrad gorge and Buynovsko gorge. For those who like to pick up herbs and mushrooms, each hike turns into a basket full of flowers, mushrooms and herbs.
HUNTING AND FISHING Due to its geographic location and exquisite combination of a sea, rivers, mountains and plateau fields, the Bulgarian land is granted with a huge species variety of game. Here you will meet skilled pathfinders, who will introduce you to the secrets of wild animals’ world and will help you to experience the thrill of hunting. You will leave the biggest game breeding station in Bulgaria - Kormisosh with impressive trophies - from a royal stag, bear or wild boar. If you enjoy the tranquility of fishing, a wide range of dam lakes and rivers in the region is at your dispose. They offer a rich draught of trout, white fish, carp and perch.
NATIONAL CUISINE Whenever you come to The Rhodopes, you will be charmed with the rhodopean hospitality and superb taste of the local food. Rhodopean dishes can be compared with no other food you have ever tasted before - the original taste of cheverme - lamb meat roasted on a spit, of patatnik, of smilyanski beans, of klin (the traditional rhodopean banitsa), of kachamak and sarmi. The patatnik is a traditional potato dish in The Rhodopes and its recipe is handed down from generation to generation. Once you are in the mountains you also have to try the big colorful beans of the famous smilyanski beans. If you want to reach the secret of the rhodopean centenarians, then you have to take a sip of the mursalski tea!
